Reminders:
10/12 – No School
10/19 – 10/23 – ITBS – parents will not be allowed in the building (for volunteering or to have lunch with your child) during this week because of standardized testing.
Reading:
Next week we will begin our unit on folktales and myths.
You will receive your child’s reading test that they took on Thursday sometime next week.
Students are now required to fill out a reading log each week. They will need to read at least 4 days for 20 minutes each day. This week's reading log is on yellow paper in your child's homework folder.
Writing:
Next week we will have our Author’s Celebration for our personal narratives that we wrote. We will also begin our informational writing unit.
Math:
Please remember that if I do not teach your child math, you will need to check your child’s math teacher’s blog for information and updates.
Here is the schedule for the next two quizzes:
10/16 – 3s, 4s, and 6s facts.
10/23 – 7s and 8s facts.
Next week we will be looking at the distributive property of multiplication.
6 x 9 = (6 x 3) + (6 x 6)
Please have your child practicing their multiplication facts. You can do this through flash cards or by completing the IXL multiplication activities.
Science:
Next week we will finish up our pollution unit. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Wednesday, October 14. We will not have a test for this short unit. Instead, we will have kids work in groups to create posters on air pollution, water pollution, and land pollution.
