Field Trip

Reading
Next week we will begin our unit on nonfiction texts. We will begin by diving into the main idea and details. We will also take notes on what to do before reading, during reading, and after reading of an informational text. The reading test they took this week will be sent home at some point next week.
Writing
Next week we will continue to focus on narrative writing.
Math
This week we focused on word problems. The kiddos need to be able to work through each step of the problem and decide what it is asking them to do. The majority of testing these days is word problems. We have started reviewing bar graphs and pictographs. We will be introducing line plots and measuring to the nearest half and quarter inch on a ruler. We will beginning reviewing for their math test on September 23rd. Remember that we will not be sending home the typical study guide like you are used to. We will be using their interactive notebook for their review. It will have everything they need to study!
Science/ Social Studies
We wrapped our habitats unit today. Their test grades will come home next week. We will be moving on to democracy and the government for our 1st social studies unit. We will be using our interactive notebooks to provide them with their study guides. Please make sure to ask your kiddo for their book. We need them to be responsible for bringing it home, showing it to you, and then studying with you. Please note that some of their homework may involve cutting and pasting but please remember that doing this at home allows for us as teachers to use every minute as instructional time.
Have a great weekend!
